Australia’s favourite renovation TV show, The Block, has returned for its 20th season on Nine! This season, dubbed Block Island, takes place in the stunning coastal location of Phillip Island, where contestants will transform a rundown holiday park into five luxury family holiday homes. Since its debut in 2003, The Block usually follows a group of couples competing to renovate and style properties, create stunning spaces that will impress both the judges and potential buyers, whilst captivating audiences with its blend of competition and design inspiration.

Despite the last-minute challenge of taking over House 1, Charlotte and Maddy have crafted a kitchen that’s truly remarkable. They seamlessly blend natural materials with modern design, creating a warm, inviting space. The light wooden textures in the cabinetry, floorboards, and furniture enhance the natural, sunlit ambiance by day and glow warmly under soft lighting at night. A large window floods the area with light, showcasing the herringbone-patterned wooden flooring, which adds a touch of subtle sophistication.
A standout feature is the uniquely patterned stone benchtop with its wave-like design, extending seamlessly to the splashback. Its light beige tones harmonise beautifully with the wooden elements, adding to the kitchen’s cohesive and sophisticated look.
The built-in appliances integrate flawlessly into the design, ensuring a clean, uninterrupted flow throughout the kitchen. Glass-fronted upper cabinets strike the perfect balance between display and storage, enhancing the kitchen’s airy and open aesthetic. NSW Couple Courtney and Grant have unveiled their stunning House 2 kitchen, featuring rich dark oak cabinetry, warm ambient lighting, and elegant golden accents. Continuing the trend of distinctive bench designs among the contestants, their kitchen showcases a unique bench with a purposefully aged texture, complemented by brick-type tiles as its foundation. A fantastic achievement by Courtney and Grant in creating a truly remarkable kitchen design.
This kitchen design masterfully combines opulence with natural elements, creating a space that feels both luxurious and grounded. The centrepiece is the stunning marble island and matching backsplash, where intricate veining adds depth and texture to the overall design.
The earthy tones of the marble harmonise beautifully with the rich, dark wood cabinetry. A gold faucet and subtle pendant lighting above the island introduce just the right amount of glamor, offering a modern contrast to the rustic materials, with large windows & sheer curtains allowing natural light to flood the room, highlighting the herringbone-patterned floor.
Building on the vibrant energy of the bathroom reveal, House 3’s kitchen, crafted by best mates Ricky and Haydn, exudes a warm and optimistic aesthetic. The space is bathed in white tones and light oak finishes, with an open layout.
Seamless cabinetry lines the walls, offering ample storage while maintaining a clean, minimalist look. The centrepiece of the kitchen is a round tabletop bench with ribbed detailing at its base, introducing a sense of fluidity and movement. The white marble countertop, with subtle veining and rounded edges, adds a luxurious yet soft touch.
Large windows and sheer curtains flood the room with natural light, making the kitchen feel bright and expansive, with pendant lights above the island providing both functional lighting and as a contribution to the room’s warm, modern vibe.

Kylie and Brad extend their all-black bathroom theme from Week 1 into their House 4 kitchen design, where the consistent black tones create an aura of elegance and luxury. This sophisticated design is beautifully complemented by wooden floorboards and subtle wooden accents within the cabinets and furniture.
A highlight that can’t go unmentioned is the FurnSpin revolutionary rotating storage solution from Hettich that blends seamlessly with the cabinetry until rotated to reveal stylish displays and glassware. The award-winning fitting’s unique “translatory rotational movement” now literally turns furniture inside out. A stylish rotation of 180 degrees leaves furniture to reveal what’s inside. Hiding everything from view again, a further spin returns furniture to its closed state.

Newlyweds Kristian and Mimi have crafted a striking design for their House 5 kitchen, creatively using colour to make a design statement – the rich dark brown cabinetry pairs beautifully with the crisp white walls and countertops, while the green hues of the vintage-inspired rangetop and matching stove add a refreshing pop of colour and personality, making the space feel both vibrant and unique. The cabinetry, a celebration of natural wood, boasts a smooth, grainy finish that brings texture and warmth to the kitchen.
The ribbed textures beneath the tabletop and on the cabinetry above the splashback are standout design elements, adding depth to visual interest. Instead of a traditional splashback, Kristian and Mimi opted for a wide window that help flood the kitchen with extra natural light during the day, and offers a serene view at night, beautifully accented by additional warm lighting.
This thoughtful blend of organic materials, modern finishes, and clever design choices makes their kitchen functional yet stylish, perfectly reflecting Kristian and Mimi’s innovative approach to home design.

Though Maddy & Charlotte didn’t quite finish their guest rooms by reveal day, the end result is nothing short of spectacular. White wall tiles and a soft, all-white palette embrace contemporary coastal aesthetics, perfectly capturing an island getaway vibe, with a marble benchtop adding the final touch of elegance.
This cleverly designed laundry room doubles as a powder room with a toilet, balancing both style and functionality. Just down the hallway, you’ll find sleek shoe storage and cabinets fitted with Sensys soft-closing hinges for a seamless, refined finish.
Kylie & Brad extend their signature black-on-black theme into the laundry, creating a sleek and sophisticated look. The handleless cabinetry enhances this streamlined aesthetic, with push-to-open drawers revealing the concealed washing machine and dryer, as well as foot-pedal-accessed laundry baskets.
Above the striking dark marble-textured benchtop and splashback, handleless ribbed overhead cabinets add visual interest, complemented by open shelves for display and extra storage.
“Now this is a laundry!” Ricky & Haydn’s laundry room immediately wowed the judges with its beautiful design and family-friendly functionality. Praised for its stylish look and practical features, this space is ideal for family living.
Storage abounds throughout the room—from drawers with an internal pull-out laundry basket and tall cabinets to open overhead shelving illuminated by soft under-cabinet lighting. The spacious marble benchtop and coordinating splashback add even more room for organisation and function.
The predominantly white design looks stunning, with the dark washing machine and dryer providing a striking contrast that elevates the space’s clean, modern appeal.

Wrapping up with Kristian & Mimi’s House 5 laundry room, the judges were captivated by its cohesive design, featuring dark cabinetry complemented by green appliances and elegant gold accents. One standout detail is the overhead cabinetry layout, which also includes a functional rail, perfect for hanging clothes when needed, adding yet another thoughtful touch to this uniquely designed laundry room.
The laundry room itself is highly practical, with a glass door providing easy outdoor access and a generous benchtop offering ample workspace. The rose gold sink adds a final touch of luxury, enhancing the room’s beautifully coordinated colour scheme.
