Refined Coastal Living

A Hamptons-Inspired Kitchen Designed for Modern Family Life
Set within a light-filled new build, this elegant kitchen by Zente Exquisite Kitchens captures the essence of contemporary coastal living. Balancing classic Hamptons detailing with refined modern materials, the project demonstrates how thoughtful cabinetry design can shape the heart of a home, creating a space equally suited to family life and entertaining.

Positioned within a dramatic open-plan interior, the kitchen sits beneath soaring cathedral ceilings and expansive glazing that floods the space with natural light. The architecture demanded joinery that could match its scale while maintaining the relaxed warmth associated with coastal design. The result is a kitchen defined by generous proportions and considered detailing.
Full-height cabinetry frames the space, while a substantial central island creates both a functional workspace and a natural gathering point for family and guests. Throughout the design, a palette of soft neutral tones, warm brass accents and natural timber flooring creates an atmosphere that feels calm, welcoming and timeless.

Designing for Scale and Balance
One of the key challenges of the project was ensuring the cabinetry felt appropriately scaled within the large open-plan environment. In homes with expansive volumes and high ceilings, joinery must do more than simply provide storage, it must help anchor the architecture.
Here, the use of full-height cabinetry provides visual weight while maximising storage capacity. The large island further grounds the space, reinforcing the kitchen’s role as the central hub of the home. Despite the scale, the design maintains a lightness through careful material selection and the introduction of subtle textural details.

Architectural Details that Elevate the Space
Several bespoke features bring character and depth to the design while maintaining the kitchen’s refined aesthetic.
A custom fluted rangehood box forms a sculptural focal point above the cooking zone. The vertical fluting introduces texture and rhythm while maintaining the softness of the overall palette. Framed by surrounding cabinetry, the feature creates a sense of symmetry and balance within the composition.
Another distinctive element is the arched recessed shelving niche, which introduces an architectural moment within the cabinetry. Beyond its functional role as a display space, the curved detail softens the overall geometry of the joinery and adds warmth and personality to the kitchen environment.
The large island bench further enhances the kitchen’s functionality. Designed as both a preparation surface and social hub, it integrates storage, seating and subtle lighting to elevate both usability and visual presence.

Consistency Throughout the Home
The design language established in the kitchen continues throughout the residence. Custom joinery extends into other areas of the home, including robe cabinetry and bathroom vanities, ensuring a cohesive interior narrative that flows seamlessly between spaces. This continuity reinforces the architectural vision of the home while maintaining the same attention to proportion, detailing and functionality found in the kitchen.

Hardware that enhances everyday performance
Behind the refined cabinetry lies a suite of precision hardware solutions designed to support daily use while maintaining the clean aesthetic of the joinery. The project features AvanTech YOU drawer systems, delivering sleek drawer profiles, smooth movement and impressive load capacity. Sensys soft closing hinges provide precise alignment and integrated soft-close functionality across the cabinetry, ensuring effortless operation.
Within the kitchen, a Hettich waste bin solutions discreetly integrates waste management, while cutlery inserts enhance internal organisation without compromising the overall design intent. Together, these hardware solutions ensure the cabinetry performs as beautifully as it looks.

Beyond the physical design, the project also highlights the importance of collaboration between designer and client. Through open communication and a shared vision, the design evolved throughout the process while remaining aligned with the client’s aspirations for the home.
The result is a kitchen that not only meets the functional needs of everyday living but also contributes significantly to the home’s architectural identity — a space where design, craftsmanship and performance come together seamlessly.
